In memory of the gentle genius, Shawn Lane, (1963-2003) May you rest in peace . . .

But he played on -- he came alive on stage -- his soul was freed -- I think he left his body -- and his fiery and soulful playing was his cry to God, to say,
I am here, I am alive, I have given it all for this moment, this eternity of now is mine -- let me fly, hear me sing, see me soar -- can you see what I see? Feel this, know this ecstasy of music -- be with me in this place of light and total bliss -- Time stops here, Time is no more, pain is gone, sorrow is meaningless, I can run in this place, I can fly, I stand on the mountain top, my body is of no concern here -- this is the realm of the soul and the door to the spirit opens . . .

EER-MUSIC.com pauses to honor Shawn Lane and remember him and his legacy he leaves us
of superb music and his humble kindness to all . . . Goodbye Shawn.
May the God of all peace give comfort and grace to your family.

On October 22nd, 2020 a Shawn Lane fan who read the tribute/memorial poem above, informed me that some excerpts from my poem here were used on Shawn Lane's gravestone!! I also referred to Shawn as the "gentle genius" and that phrase too was used as well. See image below to see Shawn Lane's gravestone and you will indeed read excerpts of my poem. Amazing! It only took me over 17 years to discover this! I am baffled and humbled. I wrote that poem thinking of Shawn Lane's last concert at SmileFest. While I was there, I watched him play and he seemed to be "transported" and free of the moment, free of reality . . .
