Bartz: Pictures of Earth and Space (CD, 41:28);
Imagineer IMAG1001, 1995 re-release

E-mail: imagav@aol.com

In 1987, I picked up a copy of this release on the Audion label in
LP format. I thought, "Hmm, cool cover, good label, lotsa cool
instruments listed." When I put that LP on I was an immediate
Bartz-head. The nearest guitarist-composer/ sound-smith I could
compare Bartz to was Steve Hackett but Bartz goes way beyond
Hackett in pulling sounds out of his guitar and embellishing it all in
a dreamworld of swirling, warping, shifting, glistening imagery.

	This 1995 re-release, (w/ extra tracks), is space-music, space-
rock, space-guitar, space-progressive, space-newage and yet it
avoids all pitfalls of each and melds together the BEST of all
worlds. I kid you not. THIS IS A MUST HAVE for fans of guitar,
synth, and space music heads.

Be aware that Bartz has now released 2 follow-up albums to
continue the magic. These are highly recommended limited edition,
signed releases! As of last month Bartz was down to a mere
handful. You had better get yours now.

Besides being a master musician, Bartz is a master sound
engineer, new music instrument inventor, and one heck of an
amazing visuals artist. I am so glad to have finally had this chance
to thank him for all the superb music!! Highest of
recommendations!	~ John W. Patterson

Bartz: Build Your Own Planet (CD, 43:04); Imagineer 39/100, 1999, limited edition release Cyberhome: http://www.niia.net/~jdminc/ E-mail: imagav@aol.com After Bartz's amazing Pictures of Earth and Space release in 1987, the Audion label went "belly-up" and other labels snubbed the music Bartz had prepared as follow-up to PoEaS. It was a demoralizing time with everyone scrambling for Yanni- clones. Bartz waited. The Internet explosion allowed freedom for Bartz to bypass record label gauntlets. He dusted off the years and has now re-issued the music once unheard. Bartz sent me a signed copy of Build Your Own Planet along with other CDs. I found a very similar gestalt to the PoEaS guitar and wildly cool, effects menagerie of sound and glory but also a slicker smoother, headier, slightly jazzier approach to Bartz's endless attempt at "freeing" the listener to wander some inner Cosmos of dream. Bartz had also more firmly meshed each track together into a nearly perfect whole-album song. How ignorant those record labels of yesterday were not to see the gems here! Maybe now, in the 21st century, Bartz's 100% unique sound will be heard and appreciated for the genius and deep head- trip that it offers. Get yours before this collectors item is history. Unique guitar and amazing sound engineering effects await you. ~ John W. Patterson Personnel: Jim Bartz – all incredible sounds and uniquely Bartzian effects, except cymbals and tombongos by Bill Romer, some drums on one tune by Tony Jefferson, and stray sax by Mike Carson Tracks: 7 seamless, mind voyages into deep space and inner visions

Bartz: Evolver (CD, 49:33); Imagineer #29/100, 2000, limited edition release Cyberhome: http://www.niia.net/~jdminc/ E-mail: imagav@aol.com If you missed Bartz's amazing Pictures of Earth and Space release in 1987, and re-released in 1995 or still can't find a copy of the limited edition Build Your Own Planet then by all means seek this excursion out. For spaced-out, infinite guitars, stretched-out sounds and shimmerings into the nether regions of missing matter, ambient spaces interspersed with errant dimensionaloid detritus of gilded weirdness – do get a Bartz CD. This is not like anything you have ever heard. Many will be either very lost or very blissed-out once this head-room descends and all time-space continuum boundaries fall away. This is the musicks of the mid 21st century. When folks of the future look back for echoes of their time, they will point to Bartz as we now point back to our own litany of visionaries. And will this music continue? Oh but yes, as Bartz sub-titles this release "Cosmic Guitar Experiments Volume 1" so will we hear and see more from him. He is currently working on very exciting things that go beyond the range of a mere CD and developing new instruments to create his sonic vision for tomorrow. A recommended step in the right direction is . . . Bartz. ~ John W. Patterson Personnel: Jim Bartz – all incredible sounds and uniquely Bartzian effects, except sparse grooves and freakazoidisms by a handful of available Bartz fans and friends . . . Tracks: 10 meshed, sonic vistas unfold between your ears, as headphone heaven for consciousness expansion . . .
