David Vincent: No Entiendo (CD, 39:15); Gazul, GA 8625.AR, 1999 E-mail: kik@infomaniak.ch Cyberhome: http://www.musearecords.com 10 words or less: Think Byrne & Eno only more Avant Garde. Elaboration: OK, I guess I'm missing something here 'cause all credits are given to one Enrique Carranza so who the heck is David Vincent? Perhaps it is a nom de plume, oh well; it doesn't change the fact that this is a very engaging album of instrumental, Frippoid Guitarisms accompanied by Drums, Bass, electronics and acoustic Guitar. The production techniques (or lack thereof) are the only weak point to this album. The overall sound is flat but the music is so interesting that this is easily overlooked. All of the tunes on the album segue into eachother giving it a thematic, suite-like feel. There is an abundance of angular chords and solos giving the album an Avant/RIO bent. Beside the Byrne & Eno reference, I also hear a touch of Heldon. Heldon may actually be David's (or Enrique's) main influence but to be perfectly honest, I find this album to be much more interesting than most of Heldon's work. David (or Enrique) takes the listener on a journey through many moods and soundscapes; there's even a Tangerine Dream influenced section in the middle of the album. Musea distributes this album so it shouldn't be hard to find and I do recommend you find it! ~ L Perez
