Amoeba: Pivot Cyberhome: http://www.amoeba.com/amframeset.htmlAn odd album for sure: After several listens, I still don't know what to make of it, really. That could be a good thing. I'll let you be the judge. Amoeba are essentially two guys, Robert Rich and Rick Davies, who play a variety of instruments and are joined by various guest musicians. Pivot consists of 12 dark, minimalistic "pop" music, but only termed pop for structural reasons, not because of accessibility. Most of Amoeba's pieces feature haunting synthesizer work, ambient textures, monotone vocals, and a mysterious air of menace. They combine this menace with an often child-like simplicity. This music seems especially suited for the late night, for sleepwalking or various other forms of induced trance. Something to check out. Quite unique. ~Jon Murphree~
